Mixology

Terrazza 241

That is the experience of the rooftop of the Hilton Lake Como hotel, where the guests and outside customers can go up to enjoy a cocktail or have dinner while enjoying the sight of the lake spreading out before their eyes. The terrace, a new concept in hospitality, offers gastronomy and drinks mixology in the middle of the city. Meticulously cared for spaces bring together contemporary design and an architectural context that creates a harmonious balance between external and interior volumes. These are connected by large windows that filter daylight and allow the view and sunset to be enjoyed in the evening hours.

The signature cocktails on the menu are designed by bartender Vincenzo Sulmona and are accompanied by the chef's dishes. The cocktail list is divided into three parts: "Eat your Drink", "Signature" and "Untouchable", i.e. the cocktails most appreciated by customers, such as the Smoked Negroni. Eat your drink is a taste experiment in which the liquid part, i.e. the cocktail, meets the solid part, i.e. the dessert, creating a culinary cocktail. It can be eaten and drunk at the same time, ideal to enjoy as a dessert or an after-dinner drink. The experience was created in collaboration with the kitchen, emphasizing the closeness and dependence between the two worlds. A cocktail close to Sulmona’s heart is The Shape, which was inspired by his homeland, showcasing as it does two traditional desserts from Campania, the Babà and the Lemon Delight.

For the Signature cocktails, the inspiration comes from the silk route, textiles and the five senses. The Silk Road has always held a special place in the identity of the hotel, which not only arose as a redevelopment of the building that formerly housed a textile dyeing plant, but is also part of the life of Como, for which textiles have always played a crucial role. The first sense to be stimulated is that of touch, where instead of the usual drinks list, a set of fabrics is brought to the table, each of which linked to a different drink. The choice is made on the basis of affinity with a type of fabric and not by a reading of the ingredients. Silk, for example, is paired with a sophisticated, delicate cocktail, while jeans are paired with one that is intense and strong).
