Cantine Angelinetta

Photography by Marco Varoli

The Cantine Angelinetta cellars are located in Domaso, in the northern part of Lake Como, and were founded in 2008. The young Emanuele and Eleonora transformed what until then had been a family production, inherited from the past, into a small professional winery. Emanuele recounts that his first wine-making experiences date back to his university years, when he attended the Faculty of Construction Engineering at the Milan Polytechnic. At the time, when he said he would like to be a winemaker after finishing his degree, his fellow students said that he was crazy!

But the vineyards won out and at the terraces clinging to the mountain, amidst steep cliffs and dry-stone walls, Emanuele can be found devoting his time to the art of wine-making, using processes carried out wholly by hand. The south south-east exposure, the sub-acidic sandy soils, the rows of vines arranged in retracted pattern and the cool, drought-free climate bestow up the wines their freshness, aromaticity and finesse. Each bottle summarises the characteristics that identify the "terroir". Cantine Angelinetta's work consists in supporting and maintaining the peculiarities of the grapes, giving the wine its own stylistic imprint.

The winery and the sales area with tastings are located inside the splendid villa of Professor Leo Miglio, son of the illustrious Professor Gianfranco Miglio, political scientist and pioneer of professional oenology in the Lake Como area, surrounded by an wonderfully evocative landscape. The wine cellar is on two levels. The ground floor houses the rooms used for production and the steel tanking of the wine. The barrel-vaulted stone basement below contains the wooden barrels for the refinement of red wines. Currently the production counts eight labels.
