Amaro Plinio

Giuseppe De Toma, owner of Osteria del Gallo, has been continuing the tradition of Como's herbal liqueurs for over a decade with a line of spirits produced in a small distillery in Friuli. Among the famous liqueurs like Cordiale Piz, Galivél, Medeghétt, Gallorange, and Brugin, the recent addition is Amaro Plinio.

The "herbae surdae," which characterize the aroma and scents of this latest creation, are described by Pliny the Elder in his Natural History as herbs that grow silently, without attracting much attention, but were already recognized in ancient Rome for their richness in essential active principles.

The first bottles were launched in 2023 to commemorate the bicentennial of Pliny's birth, thus paying homage to the great writer two millennia after his time.
