Oto Lab is much more than just an event venue—it is the result of a careful urban regeneration process that has breathed new life into a historic former factory in Lecco. A place that has witnessed the labor and ingenuity of generations and, since 2018, has been transformed into a space where culture, design, and unique experiences come together. The restoration project was led by architect Giovanni Rusconi, who has a deep connection to this space. For decades the building housed his family’s business, and it was here that Rusconi chose to establish his own studio, reflecting a bond that goes beyond architecture—an emotional and identity-driven connection that makes this regeneration project one of strong symbolic value.
The intervention preserved the industrial soul of the building, enhancing its distinctive features: high ceilings, large windows, metal and concrete structures that tell a story of industriousness and innovation. At the same time, the space has been reimagined to host events, exhibitions and, offering a neutral and versatile setting capable of adapting to endless creative possibilities. Oto Lab spans two levels, with a spatial layout designed to accommodate events of various types and sizes. The ground floor is a large open space with an authentic industrial atmosphere, ideal for major events, art installations, conferences and live performances. The absence of intrusive structural elements makes it highly flexible and customizable to suit any need.
The upper floor is perfect for meetings, workshops, photo shoots and private events requiring a more intimate and reserved setting. Thanks to its large windows and natural light, this area retains the industrial charm of the space while offering a warmth that makes it ideal for moments of exchange and connection. Today, Oto Lab is a key destination for those seeking an unconventional environment, where the charm of the past interacts with the present, making room for new ideas and projects. A place in constant motion, just like the waters of the Gerenzone River that flows alongside it.
