Light iS is the fruit of the special relationship and the shared passion of the sisters Luisa and Silvana. Even as children, the two of them were fascinated by candles, whose flickering lights were their companions on long afternoons. Their project literally saw the light of day in 2021, in the middle of lockdown. “The negative moods and fears we sensed in people decided for us the when and the how of the development of our project,” Luisa and Silvana explain. “It became clear to us that we should encourage moments of serenity and warm atmospheres through our candles; with their light kindling emotions and hope, and their flame infusing the environment with warmth and beauty”. The result is a line of elegant creations made entirely by hand, so each candle is unique and special.
Among the values that have inspired the project are care and respect for the environment. Aware that candles, once lit, affect the purity of the surrounding air, Luisa and Silvana decided to work exclusively with soy wax, a renewable, sustainable and 100% vegetable resource. The wax comes from the soya beans, that, after harvesting, are processed into flakes to obtain the oil, which is then solidified using a hydrogenation process. Unlike scented candles, which are usually made with paraffin, a petroleum derivative that emits harmful substances, soy wax burns cleanly and does not produce soot. An additional advantage of this material of vegetable origin is that has a low melting point, which allows the candle to burn more slowly and last longer.
Luisa and Silvana are personally involved in each stage of candle creation, from the centring of the wick and the incorporation of the fragrances through to the pouring and packaging. Light iS's range is made up of artistic and decorative candles in glass, ceramic and Corian containers, available in different sizes and fragrances, and all bearing a person's name. "One of the symbolic meanings of candles is 'the wish for light' and we wanted to give our candles names of women and men who have brought 'light' to our lives. The choice of the characters and their lives is for us a source of inspiration for the creation of the fragrance dedicated to them,” Luisa and Silvana tell us. Each fragrance is made with different scents that are skilfully blended by a specialist workshop and give rise to intense, delicate, fresh, or more enveloping aromas. These are in turn capable of arousing emotions, evoking memories and elevating the well-being of those who enjoy them.

Those wishing to explore the variety of fragrances and articles first hand can go, on the first Saturday of every month, to their pop-up in Missaglia (LC) inside the Nel Piccolo Spazio concept store. Here visitors are guided by the two creators of the products on an olfactory journey of discovery of the secrets that inspired them to make these scented masterpieces.
