Experience

WLC Blevio

Fun for everyone, and fun guaranteed. By now an established institution for sports people and the adventurous, Wakeboardlakecomo celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022, becoming one of the longest-running wakesurfing, wakeboarding and water-skiing schools on Lake Como. Located in Blevio, the first town on the lake’s eastern shore, just 3 kilometres up from Como itself, the club founded by the Lucini family basks in the sun right through until into the evening and offers spectacular views of the whole of the first branch of the lake.

There are qualified FISW instructors (from the Italian Federation of Water Skiing, Wakeboarding and Waksurfing) who can provide assistance and instruction on theory and practice so you can enjoy your experience in the middle of the lake in safety. Opening from May to September, the Wakeboardlakecomo school teaches numerous water sports including wakesurfing, which allows you to surf the waves freely because your feet are not hooked onto the board; foil, the latest frontier in water sports with a board, provides daring enthusiasts with the feeling of flying over the water; wakeboarding, which involves hooking your feet onto the board and holding on tightly to a long rope tied to the boat; and last but not least, water skiing, the old favourite with a decades-long tradition in Italy.

During the initial rides instructors give basic instructions on how to get out of the water and keep your balance on the board. With practice you begin to get out from the wave and become familiar with the movements and with the board itself until you can start performing jumps. In addition to these board sports, the school hires out paddle boards and there are banana boat and tubing trips, conceived for children but also much enjoyed by adults just wanting some fun on the water in a natural setting. The latest additions to the school's variety of services are the sports boat tours, with extended outings, typically lasting at least an hour, where the sporting activities alternate with moments of relaxation to discover villas and natural landscapes.

Sport and fun certainly, but also relaxation. On the beautiful wooden jetty, two evenings a week and on Sunday mornings, group yoga classes for both experts and beginners are held by professional instructors. For those with particular energy, once a week there is the chance to try out SUP yoga. Between boat trips and yoga classes, customers and members can enjoy a refreshing aperitif or a quick lunch on the panoramic terrace, a very picturesque spot that affords its finest views at sunset when the red of the sky is reflected in the green waters of the lake.
