Terrazza Gualtiero Marchesi

It is hard to be left indifferent by the striking beauty of the Art Nouveau building that houses the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. The great chef Gualtiero Marchesi was also charmed by it when he was shown this place for the first time by his friend the sculptor Nicola Salvatore. It was he who introduced him to the De Santis family, owners of this hotel on the lake, which is now owned by Valentina De Santis. In 2011, a number of young chefs trained by Marchesi-began joining his kitchen team until in 2013 when Gualtiero Marchesi decided to leave L'Albereta in Erbusco and move to Tremezzo.

After years of developing its line in cuisine, in 2019 La Terrazza Marchesi opened the only restaurant showcasing the chef's authentic dishes. To help make the Chef’s dream come true, the De Santis family decided to create a new kitchen designed to add behind the scenes elegance to the Palace beyond the gaze of guests. They used fine quality materials for the surfaces, like Carrara marble and French red marble, with Venetian seminato flooring and glazed ceramics on the walls. Working hours were designed to be spent pleasantly with the kitchen affording views of Lake Como, capable of calming the mind and inspiring all those working in that space.

Tremezzo's main restaurant is proud that it is the only restaurant in the world where the entire menu is made up of Gualtiero Marchesi's most famous dishes, icons of the gastronomic world that have revolutionised Italian cuisine, including Rice gold, Open ravioli, the Spaghetti salad with caviar, Costoletta a cubi, the Dripping homage to Pollock, and the Rosso e nero, homage to Fontana.
