Founded in Como in 2005, La Cava dei Sapori celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, reaffirming its remarkable success with both loyal patrons and new guests. The restaurant is passionately run by Emanuele Riva, whose love for fine wine, quality cuisine, and attentive service has shaped its identity. As a professional sommelier—awarded Second Best Sommelier in Italy (2010), Best Professional Sommelier in Lombardy (2011), and Italian Vice Champion (2013)—Emanuele promotes a new concept of dining that actively involves guests in the wine selection process. The wine cellar, now featuring over 400 Italian and international labels, is the result of years of meticulous and passionate research.
La Cava stands out in the Como area for its elegant and high-quality culinary offering, which fits into the framework of authentic, versatile, and forward-thinking Italian cuisine. Here, contemporary dishes featuring homemade pasta and top-quality local ingredients are complemented by gourmet signature pizzas. Prepared with a dough made from Italian flours and natural sourdough, La Cava's pizzas range from the classic Margherita with San Marzano tomatoes to more creative varieties enriched with Slow Food–certified local products, such as dried missoltino from Lake Como.
Emanuele’s passion for service and wine also extends to the world of fine spirits. In a welcoming yet refined atmosphere, guests can also enjoy a stop at the Spirits Bar, which offers a curated selection of over 200 bottles of rum, grappa, whisky, gin, and other rare spirits.
